Top:
1. Check all seams. Be sure that all pieced seams are completely sewn together, trimmed and pressed flat.
2. Press top. If pressing is needed before quilting, extra charges will apply. You will be contacted for approval. Touch up pressing is included in the quilting charge.
3. Do not embellish quilt top before quilting.
4. Do not baste your quilt top to the batting or backing. Keep each piece separate.
5. Trim all loose threads. These can show through, snag and even damage your quilt.
6. Square your quilt. If it isn't square, puckering or small pleats may occur.
Note: Please be aware that if your top does not lie flat it may pucker or pleat. Large bubbles in the quilt will not quilt out. While we can quilt out some distortion, anything above a “B” cup will not be flat.
7. Borders should be flat to avoid puckers or pleats. Please see how to sew on borders.
8. Mark the “top” of the quilt with a piece of paper written with pencil. Do not use pen as the ink may harm the quilt top.
Back:
1. Square the back. If it is not squared, it will not load on the frame properly.
2. Allow 4” of extra material on all sides so it can be properly attached to the frame. If your top is 50” x 50” your back should be 58” x 58”.
3. If seaming back, use 1/2” seams and press them open.
4. Press back completely. If your back requires pressing before quilting, extra charges will apply. You will be contacted for approval. Touch up pressing is included in the quilting charge.
5. Vertical seams are preferable to horizontal seams.
6. If your back is directional, please mark the top with a piece of paper with a note written in pencil.
7. If multiple fabrics are used for the back, please make sure they are of the same type and weight. This will prevent uneven pulling, stretching or shrinking.
Batting:
1. Allow 4” of extra batting on all sides so it will load and quilt properly. If your top is 50” x 50” your batting should be 58” x 58”.
